Tooth-Colored Fillings

Few of us will be lucky enough to escape the need for a dental filling at some point during our lives.

Experiencing dental decay that requires a filling no longer means a permanent scar on your smile. Our skilled team provides dental restorations that complement your smile and offer exceptional durability.

Get Rid of Tooth Decay

At Grapevine Dental, all the restorative dentistry we provide has both function and esthetics in mind because feeling great about your smile is so important. The materials we use in dentistry today match your natural teeth so closely that no one will notice you have had a restoration.

Tooth-colored fillings (composite resin fillings) come in a variety of shades and are made of BPA-free plastic mixed with translucent microscopic glass particles. The results look so similar to natural teeth, we can even use it on your front teeth.

Your filling will be our secret.

How Tooth-Colored Fillings Work

Your comfort and wellbeing are always our number one priorities. While a dental filling may not sound like your idea of a fun time, we can promise you that we will make your treatment comfortable and provide high-quality dentistry – consistently.

Dr. Michael Colangelo will expertly remove all signs of decay. Since this process leaves a “cavity” in your tooth, he will then fill it with tooth-colored composite matched to the natural shade of your enamel. He will apply composite in layers and harden them with a curing light.

Once the filling is complete, he will polish and shape it to fit comfortably with your bite.

Dental Decay Is Highly Preventable

Tooth decay typically has no symptoms until it is advanced and affects the nerve of your tooth. We take regular x-rays to detect decay as early as possible.

Food particles left behind after eating and sugar from flavored drinks and fancy coffees provide the best fuel for the bacteria that cause decay. Starchy, sugary, and refined carbohydrates are the biggest culprits, but healthy foods can also contribute to decay. This is the main reason why you will hear dentists stressing the importance of good home care such as brushing, flossing, and a healthy diet.

Even if you are obsessive about caring for your teeth, eventually tartar will develop in those tough-to-reach places. Regular dental cleanings assist with keeping your mouth free from decay and gum disease.

Our hygiene team uses precision instruments designed to clean places your toothbrush and floss cannot. When you miss dental cleanings, tartar collects and hardens. You can’t remove it with a toothbrush at this stage, and it provides a harbor for the bacteria that cause decay.
